Preparing to build
your site
In order to properly develop any website,
content needs to be researched and collected, this content may be
in the form of text, tables, graphs, product images or logotypes.
When preparing content, you should consider
• The websites role within the
operation of the business
• The intended audience
• The aim of the site
• The audience's computer capabilities. eg: A large number of
images will cause slow viewing time on older terminals.
• Is your intended audience in Australia or Overseas or both?
• Copyright and privacy laws - do you need permission to use
your intended content?
• Where will the words or images be acquired? What text and
images do you have?
• How much can be used and how much needs to be written, photographed
or created?
• W-Dezign can develop logotypes, take photos etc for you at
reasonable cost.
• What type of text is required? (introductory, captions, advertising)
• What style is appropriate for the site?
One of the most important features that
you must consider when building a website is, how easy the audience
can navigate. Customers just won't come back. Below are are some possibilities.
• Make sure they can always find their way back.
• Make sure contact details are clear and easy to find. eg:
email, telephone, address.
• Could you use subscription email lists, e-newsletters to keep
clientele up to date?
• Links to other useful sites
• Downloadable files - PDFs, images - how many, in what format,
with what restrictions?
• Printing - will you provide print friendly version for the
user.
Having all of these things prepared
before we meet to discuss your website will save a lot of time and
possibly expense. ‘Make
the internet your 24/7 advertisement’
